The Great Lakes Bottling Company designed an addition to their warehouse that would have a massive racking system inside. Because the racking system was so large it would be built before the shell of the structure could be built.

The new racking system required soil to be removed from the existing building foundation wall at the dock doors. The concern was that removing the soil the existing wall could move outward and push against the new racking system.

The EOR designed a soil nail/tieback system to be installed to prevent the wall from moving outward.

United Structural of Illinois was contracted to install (26)

helical tiebacks. The project was performed and completed in 4 days with the tiebacks going approximately 21’ – 25’ in depth and achieving the required capacities.
